Today I want to share some of my favorites from Danielle & Michael’s Nashville engagement session! This sweet couple was so much fun to work with and so relaxed. They are seriously cute and you can tell how much they love each other. It’s adorable We’re really looking forward to their wedding at the end of June at Montaluce Winery & Estates in Dahlonega, GA. I’ve always wanted to shoot a wedding at a winery so I was more than excited when Danielle told me they wanted to book us! I seriously can’t wait for their big day. You’re 1 month old today! I can’t believe it. Time is flying…like everyone says it will. I feel like it was just yesterday that I found out I was pregnant with you and now you’ve been here with us for an entire month. We’ve had so much fun with you the past 4 weeks. Everyone keeps asking how things are going with you in our lives and I honestly can’t complain. You’re a very chill baby (perhaps just like your parents?) and you’re actually sleeping pretty well for us! Thanks! You generally sleep from around 9:00 pm till 3:00 am before you wake up to eat. Way to go!!

Some things about you…

Sometimes you like to be swaddled and sometimes you don’t. Most of the time you want your right arm out and right by your face. Sometimes you even raise your hand in the air when you’re sleeping like you have a question.

You like the ocean sounds we turn on when you sleep. And it’s nice for us too!

You’re starting to smile at us. You’ve only done it a few times for me though and it was so exciting to see your little face light up for a split second! I think you look like me when you smile

We’re still trying to figure out who you look like though– you really do look like your daddy most of the time but every now and then I see a little bit of me in you.

You don’t mind having your diaper changed which is nice. You just look around and kick your arms and legs.

Your typical fussy time happens to be right when we’re trying to eat dinner. Of course it is

You spit up and pee on everything. I do laundry for you pretty much every day. haha

You get really mad when you’re hungry and you make funny snorting noises like I’m starving you. I’m not…I promise!

You’re eating so good! You already weight 9 lbs chunky boy! I can’t believe my 6lb 12 oz baby is getting so big already.

You fall asleep after you eat most of the time and sometimes I just let you sleep on my chest for a while. I love snuggle time with you little man.

You eat from a bottle every now and then and your Daddy was able to feed you for the first time about a week ago. It was so fun to watch him feeding you and he loved spending this quality time with his boy.

You slept in your crib for the first time yesterday and did great! You’re actually in there right now. We’ll probably continue for a while to let you sleep in there during the day and then in our room at night. I like having you close at night.

Just wanted to share a few pictures from the past week in our life at home with Davis

Last Saturday Dusty ran his first 1/2 marathon! SO proud of my hubby for this huge accomplishment. Davis and I ventured out with the 31,000 people in Nashville to cheer him on. We hung out with some friends at mile 5 and saw Dusty run by! So much fun. Davis is obviously thrilled in this picture.

You went shopping with Mommy for the first time. We were out all day long and you were so good!

Daddy gave you a bottle for the first time! Such a sweet moment for him to finally know what it feels like to feed you. And you took the bottle like a champ!

You met your Great Uncle Davis last weekend! Such a special moment. You’re named after him, and 2 of your great grandfathers! My hope is you’ll always know the great men you’re named after and you’ll become one yourself!

I wanted to make sure I captured every inch of our boy in his first weeks. I had some fun with my macro lens and got these pictures of all his little details. I could just kiss him all over all day long! I think I’ll put these in a collage and have it printed

I just wanted to quickly post some pictures from the past week and then I’m off to hang out with our little guy. That’s what this time at home is all about.

We planted a dogwood tree in honor of Davis in our front yard. It will bloom every year around his birthday!

This is going to be a long one folks…

The back story–

I’m not quite sure how to even write this post. The past few days have been such a whirlwind. My mom got here last Friday and surprised me. We weren’t sure when she would drive in from Atlanta but she was dying to just be here and worried she would get a call from me in the middle of the night so she just jumped in the car. She has been amazing- cleaning our house, grocery shopping and helping us so much. I can’t thank her enough. On Saturday we ran some errands and came back to the house to do things around here so I could just get my mind off the fact that I was READY to have this baby. In fact, my mom and Dusty thought it would be hilarious if I cut the grass. So, I did. 9 Months pregnant but only for a few minutes.  :) I think it worked! Around 3 a.m. we ended up leaving for the hospital but were sent home around 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning because things had slowed down. I was really disappointed but tried to relax and remember that the baby would arrive when he/she was ready. I actually got a few hours sleep on Sunday morning. We went about our day and took a few walks hoping it would start labor again. I didn’t think it would work but around 3:00 on Sunday afternoon I was most definitely in labor. We waited as long as we could before heading to the hospital- I was not going to be sent home twice! We were admitted around 10:00 Sunday night and our little man was born Monday at 10:18 a.m.

And now that HE is here–

We were surrounded by family and friends on the most special day of our lives. It was a day we’ll never forget. I made sure to soak it all in and really take in each moment– even during the pain. I couldn’t wait to meet our child and it was so worth everything we had to go through to get there. I’m pretty sure all the doctors and nursers were just as excited to see if it was a boy or girl and we all shouted in unison IT’S A BOY! Seeing him for the first time is something I’ll never forget. His eyes searching to find me as I talked to him, touching his sweet face like I had always imagined I would. He’s absolutely perfect and I just can’t believe he’s ours. We are thanking God every minute for trusting us with this precious little boy. We’re so thankful for all the kind words and prayers we’ve received. Davis is one lucky little boy. I keep telling him how loved he is and how many people he already has that the can always count on.

I also have to say- I have an incredible husband. I’ve never felt so taken care of in my life. Just when I thought he couldn’t be more amazing… he shows me I am wrong. Dusty was by my side every step of the way and even through his own fear found the strength to step up and help me. I am so grateful for his help and constant love. Davis has a wonderful daddy and it makes me cry just thinking about how lucky they are to have each other. I can only hope Davis grows up to be just like his Daddy.

I’m sure I’ll be posting tons of pictures of our little man as he grows. I can’t wait to take the next month to get to know him and spend some quality time at home. I love you baby boy.

 We wanted to come up with a fun way to announce if it was a boy or girl to our family in the waiting room. We wrapped 2 pairs of shoes– pink converse & blue converse and brought out the blue ones for them to open. Here is their reaction. Totally priceless.

I took this last night. We’ve made a vow to keep our camera around at all times to document this exciting time.

And as if that wasn’t enough… our friend Tyler did something for us that we’ll never be able to thank him for. There are no words… just this INCREDIBLE video he put together. I’ll leave you with this…

I was packing camera equipment and syncing my phone to my computer last night and I came across tons of great pictures. It was so crazy to watch all of these pictures load from my phone starting when we moved in Charleston to this point. So much has happened in our lives! I thought it might be fun to take a little look back. We have spent the past month just relaxing, doing things around the house and making sure to live it up before our lives change forever. Don’t get me wrong- we’re very excited for all of the changes headed our way but we’re well aware of how precious this time is! I’m so glad we finished the nursery when we did and we set aside all of March to have no plans at all. We’ve had the most perfect weekends lately and I’m so thankful for this time.

Dusty has been amazing. He has been so supportive and so sweet- always taking care of me, reminding me to drink water and take a break because if he doesn’t I’ll run around like a crazy woman. He surprised me on Wednesday at lunch with an Easter Lilly, Lunch and the rest of the day off for us to have a date! We had the greatest day. And last weekend we took a jeep ride to Arrington Vineyards (yes, I went to a winery 9 months pregnant haha). I know we’ll be so happy we have truly been living it up these last few weeks as just the two of us.

This is crazy– I remember thinking I had a baby bump at this point (haha!) and I’ve gone from this…. to this:

When we got married, we had these W The Wedding coozies made and 4 years later the tradition continues. Our family and friends outdid themselves with our baby shower & these coozies are proof

How does such a tiny human require so many large items?!

There is something about ‘nesting’ that makes you a little crazy. I kept adding projects to our list throughout the pregnancy… including painting our room, enclosing the built-in bookcases to make them closets, ripping up carpet in my office & the nursery, having the hardwood floors redone, painting the office & nursery, organizing and reorganizing every closet in the house at least 5 times…. the list goes on and on. The only room that really hasn’t received any attention is the living room. We’ll take care of it at some point but at least I feel like our house is now a home for baby W to come home to (not that he/she will even care).

We’ve spent a lot of time on our awesome back deck recently. I’m so thankful for this house and the memories we’re already making here

Bean loves the back deck too haha. He is so spoiled rotten. I don’t know what’s going to happen once this baby arrives! He’s going to be so confused why he can’t sit in my lap 24/7.

Once I officially went on ‘maternity leave’ I decided it was time to read something that was not baby-related. I finished all 3 books in 1 week. Then, we went to see the movie (hated it but oh well)– because who knows the next time we’ll go to a movie!

My friend Lauren told me about this amazing, affordable antique store close to our house. I’ve probably been there 10 times already. This had to come home with me for Baby W’s newborn pictures!

For about 2 weeks, all I wanted was a pineapple surf smoothie from Smoothie King. Umm and may I add that it’s a more expensive habit than Starbucks?! Geez. So worth it though!

And this has always been one of my favorite habits. My friend Leah and I had our first Pinkberry experience in Cali 2 years ago (was it 2 years ago Leah?!). Pinkberry is amazing… so much better than Sweet Cece’s and all the others.

Spent some quality snuggle time with my favorite pup:

We had the pack n play set up in our room for Baby W to sleep in for the first little while… and it was taking up the whole room. So, we decided to get this adorable bassinet and I’m so glad we did. I hope he/she loves it!

I spent a few hours one day pulling weeds hoping that would put me in labor. It didn’t work but our yard looks great

Do you know how weird it is to look in your backseat and see this? Our cars are ready for transporting little Baby W safely!

Dusty borrowed his parents’ jeep last weekend and we had the greatest time driving around in the perfect weather, trying to ‘bounce baby W out’ haha. That didn’t work either.

I made eggplant parmesan the other night– recipe from this restaurant in Atlanta. It’s famous for causing women to go into labor. That didn’t work either.

This is from our daytime date on Wednesday. We went to Opry Mills and walked around, went to Frothy Monkey and had coffee and cookies and then walked around Radnor Lake! It was the greatest day

So much fun to look back on the past 9 months. I feel such a peace and I’m so thankful for all that God has given us. Come on Baby W– we’re ready to meet you!!!

Today, I want to share pictures from Meagan & Kevin’s gorgeous Atlanta wedding!! Dusty and I had such a great time shooting this wedding. We both went to UT with Meagan so it was quite an honor to be her photographers- and so much fun to see all of our friends! Their ceremony was at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church and the unbelievably gorgeous reception was at the Georgian Terrace Hotel. They couldn’t have picked a more amazing location for their reception. This hotel is unreal!

In the mean time… I stare at these bags at the door packed and ready for the hospital just wondering when our little one will decide to arrive! I am so excited and nervous at the same time.

I just can’t wait for he/she to be here and to know which one of these hats they will be wearing!
