There was a moment when I was getting Wyatt situated for pictures and Shana & Ben were just hugging and watching over to the side. I don’t know what they were thinking in that moment but I found it so sweet. I’m sure they were looking at Wyatt thinking ‘He’s here! Look what we did.’ and felt so proud. And they should be proud because he’s precious I just think it’s so important to capture this time as a new family. This baby will never be this tiny again and one day they’ll be able to look back at these and will be so happy they have them. It makes me incredibly proud to be a photographer when I know I’m providing images to a family that are truly priceless! Check out some of my favorites:

I’m excited to share some family pictures I did for our family- my sister-in-law and brother-in-law and their 2 amazing kiddos! We met up before Christmas to get these and had so much fun. Emory and Walker are getting so big… they need to slow down so their future cousin can catch up with them Thanks Ash & Cy for allowing me to take these & I hope you love them!

Sidenote- I’m pretty sure during this next picture the topic of conversation was farts. Yup. You do what you have to so they’ll laugh and have fun haha.

We accomplished so much in one weekend. And it’s hard to tell just by looking at the pictures but I promise you it was a ton of work. A lot of our time was spent getting things out of the guest bedroom that didn’t belong there– anything baby related was sorted and actually put in the nursery. It took Mere about half the day to install the curtain rods, hem the curtains to the right length and iron them. I love these cheap Ikea curtains but it was a ton of work. And I’m glad I didn’t do them because they wouldn’t have turned out so perfect

So, it’s important to show where we first started with this room! Here it is during our walk through with the previous owners’ things:

Here is the room on move-in day- notice the carpet!

Right before Thanksgiving we pulled up the carpet to see what the hardwood floors looked like underneath. We did this in the nursery and my office (I’ll post pictures from the office update soon too!). We ended up hiring some guys to refinish the floors and they look GREAT. We are so happy with them and it really makes both of these rooms so much cleaner and feel a lot bigger.

This dresser was in my mom’s house. I think it belonged to my grandfather’s sister? Right Papa?

Dusty worked really hard to prime and paint this and I LOVE how it turned out. A fun, bright yellow This will be the dresser/changing table.

I found the idea for this sign on Pinterest and I decided that we absolutely had to have it in the nursery. We found some old cedar boards in our attic and laid them out to see how they would look together. Then we used liquid nails to adhere them to a backer board so we could hang it as one giant piece. I painted over the boards very lightly with white paint and then printed the letters and used carbon paper to transfer them to the sign. Then I painted the letters with brown paint. Please excuse my appearance but here I am painting the first letters.

Measuring very very very carefully to figure out where the sign would go. We wanted to make sure it was high enough above the crib so our little one can’t reach it. And believe me, this thing is secured to the wall. We might not ever get it down but we feel good that it’s up there and won’t budge. We discussed putting it on a different wall but I really wanted it to be a focalpoint in the room. The sign says ‘You are loved. Always’ and I hope baby Walker always knows that

It’s really hilarious how long it took us to measure and re-measure to figure out where all the screws would go. But it ended up working out. Here is the madness:

And here is the room! We obviously have a lot to do still– baby needs a mattress and bedding, artwork has been ordered for the walls, shelving, etc. But everytime I walk past this room it makes me smile.

All we need are baby items and a baby!

Yes, this is still a photography blog I just love sharing about our lives as well. We’re excited for a weekend of working on LWP and making some updates to the business! I’m loving all the brides I’m currently talking to about their weddings. It looks like we’ll be very busy starting in June!

I’m so excited for this weekend- my friend Meredith is flying in town from Richmond to help us get ready for Baby Walker. Mere is one of my closest friends from growing up– you’ve seen her a few times on this blog- like when I shot her engagement pictures, and her bridal portraits and when I was in her wedding A few months ago we were talking and she said ‘So, tell me everything about the nursery. What have you done so far?!’ and my answer was ‘Well, nothing really. I know what I want to do but we haven’t done much’. She immediately said ‘That’s it. I’m coming there to help you.’ So she’s on her way here to tackle this to-do list And she’s excited about it for some reason.

I’m so thankful to have friends who fly in town to help me buy curtain rods, clean out drawers and just deal with the insanity of my ‘nesting’ craziness Thanks Mere!!

I promise an update on the nursery soon (and the office!!!). In the mean time- a sneak peek of nursery fabrics!

Happy Friday everyone!

So, yesterday it snowed! OK, so it was about 1/4 of an inch. But it snowed. And when I looked out the window I couldn’t help but think about our tiny little one running around in the snow for the first time. I just stared out the window and realized it was the first time we’ve had snow since we moved in to our house. Call me sentimental but I immediately grabbed my camera and took some pictures of our house with the snow falling. Something about imagining our baby experiencing the snow for the first time reminded me to pause. And to document. If I’m totally honest, I spend so much time worrying about documenting other people’s lives that I sometimes forget to document our own. Not anymore. We’re about to have a sweet little miracle join this family and I vow to document every second.

I’ve been doing some work to clean up all my files and get ready for this new year and realized I haven’t shared pictures from this adorable family session with the Barmer Family. I had such a great time with them at the Brentwood Public Library! They are expecting another little one soon so this is such an exciting them in their lives- and the perfect opportunity for a family session!

We’re headed to a cabin today with the family to celebrate my sister in law’s 30th birthday! Happy Birthday Ash! Once we get back from that trip, I’ll really be getting back to work and have a ton to catch you up on. We’re starting to make some progress on the nursery and preparing for Baby Walker! I’m 25 weeks pregnant and feeling great. Here is a recent bump picture that Dusty took of me on Christmas! I’m definitely a lot bigger than the last time I posted baby bump pictures!

After Christmas morning at our new house, we went to Dusty’s parent’s house (aka Lady & Pops). I just love this picture of Dusty and Pops. Like father like son Pops got this new guitar for Christmas and was so excited!
